How to achieve your goals quickly and sustainably

In this article we will explore how to achieve your goals quickly and sustainably,  based on an analysis of the report by Gartner analysts Rob Dunie and Saikat Ray on the need to automate business operations in order to scale your digital business.

In the report, the analysts propose the following 4 successful practices to achieve business objectives in a fast and sustainable way.

1.- Implement “quick win” tools

Gartner recommends the use of tools such as low code or RPA that allow rapid automation and are complemented by extensive integration capabilities. This type of strategy; with the aim of rapid implementation, and development by “citizen developers”; will allow increased productivity and rapid experimentation.

2.- Look beyond the quick ROI

In addition to the return on investment, and the necessary budget adjustment, it is important to leverage opportunities to gain a better understanding of where we should make additional investments. It is important to reduce the risks of process redesign and application modernization, providing the value of process automation.

3.- Create a hyperautomation strategy

In a strategy for optimization, innovation and growth, it is necessary to plan the use of automation not only to optimize existing procedures, but also to transform business operations. This approach involves various methodologies, such as Agile and Devops, and tools such as DPA, RPA, BPM, DCM…, we would also include Artificial Intelligence and “Digital Operations” in this strategy to achieve hyperautomation or intelligent automation. One can assume that it is very likely that different approaches are necessary to achieve the objectives.

4.- Change perspective

As mentioned earlier, we must realize that it is not possible to achieve the desired objectives without taking a broad perspective on digital transformation. It is necessary to invest in synergies between different departments, roles, etc. rather than a one-size-fits-all approach from an IT perspective. This will allow us to achieve the process optimization and innovation, as we explained in a previous article.
