The Ministry of Interior of Colombia and AuraPortal Selected as Finalists for the WfMC Global Awards for Excellence in BPM and Workflow 2016

The Business Process Management project implemented by AuraPortal in the Ministry of Interior of Colombia to automate the Infrastructure Project Information System known as ‘SIPI’ has been selected as a finalist for the WfMC Global Awards for Excellence in BPM and Workflow.

These prestigious Global Awards for Excellence in BPM & Workflow recognize user organizations that have demonstrably excelled in implementing innovative business process solutions to meet strategic business objectives. Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC) and jointly sponsor the annual Global Awards for Excellence in BPM and Workflow. The Awards program is managed by Future Strategies Inc.

The collaborative BPM solution optimizes services to promote public safety and citizen coexistence, benefitting over 48 million citizens throughout Colombia. The agile solution has optimized administrative efficiency and facilitated the work of all public officials involved in infrastructure projects which, thanks to the implementation, now benefit from accurate, high-quality and real-time information, information security and online traceability. This constitutes an important alignment with the Ministry’s Anti-corruption and Public Information Plan, the Administrative Efficiency Plan and the Zero-Paper Policy.


The SIPI BPM has succeeded in coordinating activities between all people involved in the process, thereby optimizing the use of all resources. The technology implementation has enabled the integration of people, processes and technology. The Viability process is now extremely agile and flexible and there are fewer steps involved in the procedures, resulting in a reduction in response times and improved quality.

The Digital Business Platform, which can be considered very complex, was implemented without having to program a single line of code. This reduced work by 80% and guided the modeler to achieve a superior level of business process modeling.

The most important advantage of the project was undoubtedly the fact that the functional team was able to modify the processes within minutes, whenever they detected an opportunity for improvement or error. Furthermore, unlimited modifications and optimizations can be made to the processes throughout their useful life.
